PGA Tour Golfer Jake Knapp Mourns the Loss of Girlfriend Makena White

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Professional golfer Jake Knapp is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his longtime girlfriend, Makena White, whom he described as a selfless, energetic, and deeply caring person.

A close friend confirmed White’s passing earlier this week through an Instagram post, though no details about the cause of death were shared. Knapp has also chosen to keep those details private.

“It’s an understatement to say how hard all of this is to process for everyone who knew Mak,” Knapp said in a statement released by his manager to the Associated Press. “Her family and friends deserve privacy and respect during this difficult time.”

Knapp, a UCLA alum and PGA Tour rookie, captured his first victory at the Mexico Open last season and made headlines earlier this year after shooting a 59 at the Cognizant Classic. White had proudly shared a photo from that event, celebrating two years of supporting Knapp’s golfing dreams.

“Makena was such a thoughtful person whose selflessness toward others is something I will always appreciate,” Knapp added. “We shared so many unforgettable memories together, and her absence is an incredibly tough reality to comprehend. She had an amazing family, wonderful friends, and her bright, outgoing spirit will be missed by all.”
