Los Angeles authorities have revealed additional information about the tragic death of director Jeff Baena, who was also the husband of actress Aubrey Plaza. The 47-year-old filmmaker, known for his work as both a director and screenwriter, died by suicide on January 3 at a residence in Los Angeles, as confirmed by records from the city's medical examiner, obtained by E! News.
Baena, a graduate of New York University’s film school, was recognized for his collaborations with Plaza. She starred in several of his films, including his 2014 directorial debut Life After Beth, as well as Joshy, The Little Hours, and Spin Me Round. He also co-wrote the 2004 comedy I Heart Huckabees with director David O. Russell.
Baena and Plaza first met in 2011 and married in 2020. Plaza confirmed their marriage in 2021 while the couple was working together on Spin Me Round. She expressed her pride in him on Instagram, writing, "So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena," in May of that year.
