Travis Hunter Clinches the Heisman, With Hopes of Avoiding the Path of His Coach.

Travis Hunter's remarkable season has culminated in a well-deserved Heisman Trophy.

The standout defensive back and wide receiver from Colorado received the prestigious award on Saturday night, surpassing competitors such as Boise State's RB Ashton Jeanty, Oregon's QB Dillon Gabriel, and Miami's QB Cam Ward.

This touching moment captured between Travis Hunter and Deion Sanders followed Hunter's victory as the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner.

Hunter garnered 552 out of 901 first-place votes, with Jeanty following closely at 309, Gabriel at 24, and Ward at six. The overall voting results were much tighter than anticipated, with Hunter narrowly defeating Jeanty in total points, 2,231 to 2,017.

This marks the closest margin for the award since 2009, when Mark Ingram subtly bested Toby Gerhart in a contest where quarterbacks did not finish in the top two.

During his acceptance speech, Hunter passionately expressed his gratitude to God, his parents, his girlfriend, teammates, coaches, teachers, and notably, Colorado supporter Lil Wayne.
